Away from Reality

The last week was tough, rockets, crazy neighbors, everything closed again…no wedding party we were invited to, no visits to friends… no government we were so long for… so we decided to flee to a desert, like King David once fled from Saul’s soldiers (1 Samuel 23:29 and 24:1-2). Eventually we got perfect connection to the Nature and got some energy to proceed with everyday tasks. Enjoy some nice stories under the pictures below and let me know if you like it. 😁 😁 😁

This fearless bird is a Tristram’s starling or grackle. Once this bird was very colorful and chatty (today still chatty 😁) but once it was so chatty and full of gossips, especially about King Solomon. So one day he trew a can of black ink on it. The only thing it could do is to stick the wings to it’s body, so this is the only part, that was not colored black. Although female and young birds are greyish, it is a nice story to tell your kids when you see these birds
The green fern on a limestone rock at the left called maidenhair or Venus hair fern. Some believe this fern forefathers saw dinosaurs, such an old species it is.
I spy an apple, some call it Sodom Apple? Can you find one? But don’t try to eat it, it is very toxic. Remember It’s an apple from Sodom 😁

Jerusalem Day

So yesterday it happened, although the situation is not so calm and stable as preferable, but we took ourselves to celebrate anyway. What is this Jerusalem Day?
Jerusalem Day is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem after 6 days war (1967). During the Independence war in 1948, some parts of Jerusalem were took by Jordan under it’s sovereignty, mostly Old City with Temple Mount inside it. Once the Old City of Jerusalem reunited with rest of Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, the narrow corridor at Western Wall was widened to the modern days Plaza and it was reopen for Jews to pray there. Till then Jews were not allowed to pray at Western Wall.
The celebrations are marked by state ceremonies and memorial services. So we’ve started to celebrate at Mount Herzl with memorial services and continued to Israel museum, special blog will talk about Israel Museum, to meet Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion and his wife. Then we danced with Israeli youth at “Flag Dance Parade”. Usually it goes through Damascus gate directly to the Western Wall, but according to latest situation of escalation in Jerusalem, the parade went through Jaffa Gate and eventually ended at Western Wall, but we were not so brave to go whole nine yards to the Western Wall. Next Year come with us and make it better, make it to the Western Wall and I promise you will never forget these moments of your life !!!!

Here you can find some short, funny/interesting stories related to Israel, that we want to share with you.

Spider + Man (David/future King) = a story to tell….

Fleeing from King Saul, David hides in the strongholds at Ein Gedi (1 Samuel 23:29 and 24:1-2) and Saul seeks him “even upon the most craggy rocks, which are accessible only to wild goats” (1 Samuel 24:2). The story tells us about a spider that was working faster than Spiderman in making his net at the cave entrance, so when Saul’s soldiers took a look at the entrance of David’s cave they saw a net and a spider. If you see a spider net at the corner of your apartment you know for sure, that no Passover cleaning was made at that corner for several Passovers. This is exactly what Saul’s soldiers thought while observing the entrance of the cave: “how can David be inside if there is a net at the entrance?” This is how they passed over and David survived.
